
The two newest main line steam locomotives in Britain posed together at Didcot Railway Centre in August 2009. A1 class 4-6-2 Tornado is a 1949 design and was completed in 2009. Broad gauge 2-2-2 Fire Fly in an 1840 design and was completed in 2005. Together they represent state-of-the-art express passenger steam locomotives of the 1940s and 1840s respectively.
